Missionary Ridge Camp #63 Minutes of the meeting held February 5, 2011 at the Northwest Georgia Convention and Trade Center in Dalton, Georgia during the 16th Annual Chickamauga Civil War Show and Sale.

Those present: James Fletcher, Wes Davis, Bob Dobbs, Tommy Smith, Harvey Scarborough, Mark Steele and Mark Kemp.

CALL TO ORDER: Commander Fletcher called the meeting to order at 1:14 PM ET.

OPENING PRAYER: Commander Fletcher, as acting Chaplain, gave the opening prayer.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commander Fletcher led the camp in the pledge to the flag.

OLD BUSINESS: Concern was expressed by those present regarding the disappointing number of new recruits the Camp is getting, both during the year as well as at this Civil War show. It was questioned whether or not having the recruitment table was worth the effort and expense. Further discussion revealed that the lobby table was not costing the camp anything. The general feeling was to continue having the table as several applications are given out during the show and some visitors have at least stopped by and talked about the SUVCW. Davis, Fletcher and Steele usually attend the show each year and have helped watch the table much of the time.

It was noted that attendance was down at the Sons of Confederate Veterans meetings as well and that low numbers may just be a reflection of the poor economy in general. It was hoped that the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War will generate more interest in coming months.

NEW BUSINESS:
   1. Dues: Everyone was reminded that the 2011 dues are due. Brother Engle was ill and could not make today's
       meeting. Several members stated that they would pay at the next meeting or send dues directly to Treasurer
       Engle.
   2. Upcoming Events:
       a) The Siege at Bridgeport (AL) Reenactment is scheduled for March 26-27, 2011;
       b) Georgia Confederate Memorial Day will take place toward the end of April. Since Easter Sunday is
           April 24th, it was unknown just what day or weekend this event will be held;
       c) Ringgold's 1890's Day Jamboree Parade, usually held the last weekend of May, is not certain if the
           SCV will participate, and consequently it is not certain if the Camp will be asked (by the SCV) to march;
       d) Memorial Day events will be held Monday, May 30, 2011, more information to follow about the
           Camp's participation.
   3. Website: Commander Fletcher stated that the Kennesaw Mountain Camp #3, SUVCW recently placed
       on their website a link to our Camp's website. They requested that we reciprocate. Commander Fletcher
       passed along the request to Harvey Scarborough who promptly complied. Camp #3's website is:
