| The Missionary Ridge Camp #63, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War held its regular meeting at the Dalton Trade Center in Dalton, GA at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2009. |

The membership gathered around a table to conduct the
meeting. The ever present Bible and U. S. Flag are placed prominently on the table.

as each position was filled for the coming year.

Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Minutes of the February 7, 2009 Meeting Held at the Dalton Trade Center Dalton, Georgia Present: James Fletcher, Wes Davis, Mark Kemp, Mark Steele, Tommy Smith, Brian White, Bill Massey and Harvey Scarborough Call to Order: At 1:23 PM ET, Camp Commander Jim Fletcher called the meeting to order. Invocation: Camp Chaplain Bill Massey gave the Invocation. Pledge of Allegiance: The Camp rendered the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States. The Camp's newest member, Brian White, was recognized. He gave a brief history of his Union ancestor who was from Missouri. At this time, Commander Fletcher stated that nominations for officers for 2009 were presented during the last meeting. He asked Tommy Smith to conduct the Installation of Officers. Tommy administered the oath to the following:
Camp Commander - Mark Kemp At this time, the gavel was passed from James Fletcher to Mark Kemp. Commander Kemp presided over the meeting from this point. Old Business: Commander Kemp called for any old business. It was mentioned that dues are due and those who had not yet paid were highly encouraged to do so immediately. New Business: Tommy Smith stated that Sons of Confederate Veterans in Summerville, GA were in the process of erecting a monument to honor the 40 Union and 6 Confederate soldiers who were killed in the Battle of Trion Factory on September 18, 1863 immediately prior to the Battle of Chickamauga. He said that the group could use some help on the monument's funding and in its dedication, scheduled for September of this year. The Camp was favorable toward helping out. It was decided to check with Treasurer Engle to determine just what the Camp could contribute monetarily to this effort. Upcoming events: The Camp discussed the agenda for the next few months. Mentioned were: The Battle of Bridgeport reenactment, March 27-29, 2009 in Bridgeport, AL. Several members stated that they would be participating. Ringgold's 1890s Days, Saturday, May 23, 2009 - the Camp carries the National and Camp flags in the opening parade for 1890s Days. Memorial Day (Monday, May 25, 2009) Activities: memorial services at the James Watkins cemetery, the Chattanooga Confederate Cemetery and the Torchlight Tour in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Next Meeting: Benediction: Chaplain Massey gave the Benediction. Adjourn: Commander Kemp adjourned the meeting at 2:34 PM.
