The following photos of six specific Michigan monuments were taken in response to a request (see Dispatches for correspondence) from SUVCW Commander-In-Chief James B. Pahl who is also Chairman of the Department of Michigan Battlefield Monuments Project. Additional photos were made available also.


The First Michigan Engineers monument at the southwest corner of the Orchard Knob Reservation, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Chattanooga, Tennessee. The 10th Michigan Infantry monument can be seen just to the left. In the smaller photo, Lookout Mountain can barely be seen in the background.

The 10th Michigan Infantry monument along the west side of the Orchard Knob Reservation, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The Fourth Michigan Cavalry monument at the east entrance to Chickamauga Battlefield along Reed's Bridge Road, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. Reed's Bridge Road can be seen to the left in the smaller photo which was taken looking eastward.

The Ninth Michigan Infantry monument is along Dry Valley Road on the west/northwest corner of Chickamauga Battlefield, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. The U.S. 27 bypass can be seen in the smaller photo. A statue of the regiment's commander, Col. Parkhurst, once stood atop this monument.

The Twenty-first Michigan Infantry monument near Lytle Hill along the Glenn Kelly Road in Chickamauga Battlefield, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. Several of the metal pieces are missing from this monument.

The Twenty-second Michigan Infantry monument atop Snodgrass Hill in Chickamauga Battlefield, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. General Gordon Granger's Reserve Corp headquarters marker (the pyramid of cannon balls) can be seen at the left.
